Why NAUI
Instructor? |
|
|
|
The
National Association of Diving Instructors (NAUI) was created in
Houston, Texas in 1960 and is the oldest organized diving association in the
States. Since then NAUI moved to Tampa,
Florida, where it is now headquartered.
NAUI mottos are: "Dive Safety Through Education"
and "Quality Difference", making the association the leader of quality and
safe diving education. NAUI 's concern always has been to train less,
but more competent divers. NAUI is a non for profit organization,
governed by a Board of 9 Directors elected by the association Instructors
for a 4 year term.
The Instructors members
are the real "players and owners" of the association. This process makes
NAUI the only democratic dive agency today and instructors members are
regularly called to elect the Board, and give their input for the well
development of the association. NAUI didn't lose the contact with the
field like most other associations, and members are still the main focus of
the association, as only a motivated member / instructor will keep his / her
standards of knowledge and skills high enough to teach the best possible divers.
NAUI instructors and leaders can be found
worldwide in over 100 countries and became with the time the most respected
leaders of the industry. Although NAUI leaders have a full time (like
Freddy) or part time career, they do not strive for the "fast consumption
market" and quick easy buck like an other well known association.
NAUI is NASA 's choice for the training of its astronauts in the
Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston, Texas.
NAUI Instructors are concerned and competent
educators, who strive to train divers who will truly enjoy safely their
diving activities, not brain washed robots putting students in front of a
video and manuals, expecting miracles from a lose and inconsistent student /
instructor relationship.
Becoming a NAUI Instructor is the choice of quality,
increased safety, commitment to students in our mission to "train safe and
competent divers to enjoy the underwater realm and protect the environment". |
